The biosphere reserve of Río Lagartos is a protected area that receives fresh wáter from diferent springs around and from natural Wells in the underround. As it looks like a river, it´s characteristics and dimensions it is called a “ria” and is a natural shelter for many migrating bird species like the pink flamingo, albatros, comoran as well as reptil especies like crocodiles.

 

We will make a motor boat trip trhough this natural reserve in search of the local fauna.

 

We´ll get to the salines where we´ll have a natural mud bath with this rich minerals, a natural spa experience.

Have lunch in the shore of the ría and then we´ll go to the mayan archaeological site of Ek Balam which has very well kept structures and a very particular wall made of “estuco”.
